Claire Harrison had never had a problem with
her weight, but her figure took rather a battering
when she had four children in just three years.
'I had my first child in 1999 when I put on 4
stone; twins in 2001, which meant I put on 6
stone; and another child, Ben, in July 2002,
when I gained 3 stone,' she says. 'I put the
weight on with the first pregnancy, and never
really lost it.'
She had unsuccessfully tried many other diets
before she started the Bodydoctor Fitness
Programme. 'I wanted to lose weight, get my
shape back to where it had been, particularly
my stomach, and to retain my pre-children levels
of fitness.'
Claire did not follow the nutrition advice, but
rigidly adhered to the exercise programme. 'I
worked really hard in the sessions, and within
two or three weeks I was noticing a difference.
My husband started to comment on my figure,
as did my friends,' she says. 'Every bit of excess
weight was gone after six weeks. I lost at least
one-and-a-half dress sizes, but my shape also
changed.The muscles in my legs were really
apparent, and my husband even pointed out that
I was getting a six-pack! I am even able to wear
short-sleeved tops now.'
At the end of the programme, Claire found that
her fitness levels were back to where they were
before she had her four sons. 'In fact, now I am
easily fitter than I was,' she admits. 'The evidence
is there, and the results are much better than I
ever expected.'
Claire now combines the Bodydoctor workout
with Pilates. 'I genuinely do believe that this is
the fastest way to shed weight and get fit,' she
says. 'The bottom line is that you read about the
programme and its claim to get you back into
pre-pregnancy jeans within six weeks, and you
wonder. By God, it works!'

Kay Acott had reached rock bottom before she
started the Bodydoctor Fitness Programme. She
was unfit and overweight - a combination of a
new baby and a job that required entertaining
clients - and, after seeing a photograph of
herself on holiday, quite depressed. She had tried
various forms of exercise and diets, but just
couldn't find anything that made a difference.
Kay did the exercise programme three times a
week, but adapted the nutritional side to fit in
with her lifestyle. 'I generally tried not to eat
protein and carbohydrate at the same time and
cut out alcohol between Monday and Thursday,
when I was really good. But on Friday and
Saturday all bets were off. I just felt that I had
worked all week and I really needed a couple of
glasses of wine. On Sunday I just tried to get
back into it,' she explains. 'I cut out dairy,
although I did keep eating cheese. I also cut out
wheat on David's advice, and felt so much better.
For Kay, the programme took a little while to kick
in.
'My fitness levels really improved within about
four weeks and I was feeling a difference in terms
of muscle tone,' she says, 'but I wasn't really losing
weight or inches at that point.That's probably a
result of not abstaining from all things delicious,
such as cheese and wine. However, I stayed
focussed on the goal I had set myself, which was
to get into (and look good in) a pair of fitted jeans
and a fitted white shirt, instead of my husband's
jeans and an oversized baggy white shirt.'
David encouraged Kay to be patient and persevere.
'David kept telling me that my metabolism would
be speeding up and that my increased muscle tone
would start to have an impact on burning up fat.
I was so determined to give the programme a
chance,' she says, 'I didn't want to go back to the
way I had been feeling.Then suddenly it kicked in.
It was incredible. I started losing so much weight
that people kept asking me if I was really eating.
They were shocked. I transformed from an
absolute pear shape.'
'The programme has been absolutely fantastic
for me. Getting into an exercise routine that is
hugely enjoyable, and adopting a style of eating
that does not involve dieting, has allowed me to
feel in control of my body again. I shall never
forget the delicious feeling of going into Gap and
finding that a size-13 pair of 'long and lean' hipster
jeans actually fitted me.'
