I would like to tell you about the oils I use in my practice, ARGAN OIL and UDOS OIL.
These oils are particularly beneficial for dealing with :-
This is a favourite of mine, it comes from the nut of the Argania Spinosa tree, indigenous to S.E Morocco.
The Argan Oil in addition to what we have already talked about, generally improves skin and hair quality, as it penetrates and nourishes. It prevents drying and scaling.
Essential fatty acids - especially linoleic Acid (Omega 6) - which is known to prevent hair falling out, reduce eczematous skin lesions; omprove eczema, sebaceous gland hypertrophy(acre). Enahance collagen and maintain healthy DNA in the interior of cells i.e. reduce wrinkles and skin lines and act as anti-ageing.
Tocopherols & B y,d (Vitamin E) - which are known to nourish the skin and improve quality and appearance and prevent peroidxation, leading to cellular ageing, enhance the immune system and protect against ultra-violet radiation skin damage.
Phytosteols - (including sterolinis and beta-sitosterol) - research indicate anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties together with the ability to relieve inflammation, heal ulcers and burns and perhaps prevent cancer. Some may be absorbed and hence assist in controlling cholesterol and prostate health.
Schottenol - A known anti-carcinogenic agent, probably absorbed.
Carotenoids (boi-flavanoids) - have anti-oxidant activity.
Saponines - have anti-fungicide properties, anti-bacterial. Act as anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory agents.
If you hate the taste of oil, you can still help your metabolic rate by rubbing Argan oil into your skin, say after showers and baths which will help to sisolve fatty tissue under the skin. If you suffer from dry skin, it is marvellous and you end up with skin as smooth as a baby's bottom!
Let me give you some simple ideas of how to incorporate the oil into daily life.
Breakfast Smoothie
Use ¼ - ½ tbls of oil, mix with goat's yoghurt, 1 tsp of spirulina or chlorella, and a selection of your favourite fruits. This should all be put in a blender and whizzed up really well. This makes a great start to your day and hopefully will keep your blood sugar levels steady until lunch.
Those mid-morning & mid-afternoon Blood sugar lows
I find the above to be one of the most common problems I deal with and most particularly with clients who have weight problems. Just remember, to avoid these lows - make yourself a drink of Cranberry juice, Oil and Spirulina / Chlorella.
NB/ If you hate the taste of chlorella / Spirulina powder, don't suffer take capsules. You can also use the oil mixed in apple puree if you prefer.
NB/ If you have diarrhoea, you should use less oil, but we will deal with this as a total subject another week.
Lunch
Wilted spinach, grilled goats cheese covered with Argan oil with lemon or lime. This is light and easy to prepare.
Dinner / Supper
Cook thinly sliced chick breast in a little OLIVE OIL, and TAMARI (like soya sauce but without wheat. Available from Japanese shops and Health shops). You serve this with thinly chopped herbs, mixed with oil & lemon and drizzled over salad or steamed or grilled vegetables. NB/ If your sleeping pattern is not great; it is wise not to take unsaturated oil after 6pm because as we have said, it heightens your metabolic rate.
Next we will be talking to you about water retention, how to help yourself and some tips on foods.
