Case Study 2

Male 30yrs
Very stressful job
Presented with very disturbed sleep, very bad wind (to the point that he could not move because of the pain). Stomach cramps during the day and leg cramps at night. Diarrhoea and constipation, this was a bad IBS case.

1st visit

I gave him special homeopathic drops to get rid of the tension in his Gut (digestion).

Also

SUPER 5 (Acidophilus) - Start slowly
ZYMEMAX (Advanced digestive) - Start slowly
ARGAN OIL (both taken mid-morning
SPIRULINA COMPLEX & mid-afternoon)
Mixed with cooked apple + a little fresh papaya (the only fruit he could tolerate at first).
Likewise, all vegetable had to be cooked.
It was very important for him to be really strict on volume and chewing. As our chap was so busy, I suggested he always carry a thermos of vegetable soup with him, which he could have at any time.

Breakfast
Tiny bit of oatbran, cooked with stewed apple.

Mid-morning & mid-afternoon, a little stewed apple with oil and Spirulina.

Lunch
Grilled fish with baked vegetable. He was lucky to be close to a Japanese restaurant. He had some take away so he had a choice of things e.g. buckwheat noodles / Japanese fish soup. He also has avocados and his vegetable soup.

Supper
Fish stew or really well slowly cooked meat and veg. With dill, fenugreek, leeks & courgettes (in other words, vegetables that are less wind forming).

Before Bed
He had special fiber, called Fiber Max and to help to calm him, he took Avena Sativa drops.

3 Months Later
What had changed?
He still had some cramps in his legs at night, but was not so bloated (in fact, he found that if he stuck to the plan, it would go). Sleep was much better and interestingly, his concentration had improved and he said his brain felt "less cluttered". We put him on a stronger acidophilus (GUT REACTION PROBION) and introduced some special drops of zinc and magnesium to increase his energy levels and also to calm his nerve endings because, although his sleep is better, he still revs during the day and gets bad tempered and very difficult to please.

At night, we introduced Calm Powder with his Fiber Powder, which will make him more Alkaline, and which I think his stomach can cope with now. He is also more able to tolerate starch e.g. Sourdough bread, ½ glass of Beer without exploding, but he is now able to have more control if things do go wrong because he is learning how his gut reacts to things.

After 6 Months
Totally aware now of what he can and cannot do. He feels he has his life back under his own control. He has learnt to take an extra Digestive Enzyme at evening meal if he has had a super stressful day and uses his homeopathic drops. Every time he makes a mistake, he knows how to turn it around. He knows that if his energy drops, he has overstepped the mark. He says he is easier to work and live with, his girlfriend now accepts his diet as she has seen the difference it has made to both their lives.

He says he would like to come back for an "MOT" in 6 months.

Favourite

Persian Stew

Serves 4

900 g(2 lb) lamb cut into 5cm (2in) cubes
2 inions, finely chopped
150 g (5 oz) fresh fenugreek, chopped, or 1 tbsp dried fenugreek
6 dried limes
450 g (16 oz) broad beans
300 g (10 oz) fresh chives, chopped
300 g (10 oz) continental parsley, chopped
150 g (5 oz) lemon juice
1 bunch coriander, chopped
3 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper

Saute the seasoned meat and onions in 1 tbsp of olive oil until golden brown. Add boiling water to cover and let the ingredients simmer until the meat is almost cooked.
In a separate pan, fry the vegetables in the rest of the olive oil. Add to the meat. Pierce the skin of the washed limes with a meat skewer before adding them to the meat in the pan. Allow this mixture to simmer on a low heat for another half-hour until the limes and meat are cooked. Adjust the flavour with lemon juice to taste. Add the beans and simmer for a few minutes more. Serve with selected vegetables.
