If you ask most people why they get headaches, most will say either that they do not know or that they had too many drinks the night before. The 'don't knows' will look around for reasons, and might settle on the weather or stress. Noone will consider that what they have or have not eaten could be responsible.
Food can have precisley the same effect as alcohol when it comes to upsetting the liver. A mormon was stoped by the police in utah and prosecuted for drink driving. As we know this man was strictly teetotal but his diet consisted of almost entirely sugared blueberry muffins. He was like a walking distillery and had made the alcohol in his own system.
I often find that people who suffer from headaches are usually constipated and are overloading the liver via the gut. They eat quickly and are often low blood sugar types. A drop in the blood sugar level, probably because they have not eatenis enouhg to bring on a headache. People often find that before the onset of a headach they experience a feeling of their digestion being out of sorts.
The sufferer must ask themselves is why is the liver under pressure?
If you really think about it the straw that broke the camels back will come to mind, just look back over the preceeeding three days.
Did you eat lots of cheese, chocolate or orange? All of these are classic headache inducers. If you love chocolate, eat real chocolate,
Do you drink enough water? Remember the two to three litres per day, drinking alcohol would have exacerbated any shortfall.
Did you have more coffee than usual?
If you can discover what caused your headache, you will aim to avoid repeating the mistake.
Headache indicates a slight toxic overload of the system, and that the liver is under pressure. When clients come to me with a string of complaints it is often the headaches that we can get rid of first. However cleaning up the system too quickly can actually cause headaches which is why i always start slowly.
You need to follow my basic plan, which i will tell you about next week.
In the meantime eliminate all wheat products, cow protein and chocolate, cut down on coffee-gradually (stopping too quickly can cause headaches), eat little and often, drink chicken or vegetable stock mid am and pm to keep the blood sugar even, donot forget water, add trace elements to your diet (cal.m powdwe in a drink), aid the digestion with herbs such as feverfrew and digestive enzymes, have warm drinks of chinese or japanese green tea, fennel or lemon and ginger.
Regular exercise may help control headaches, although sometimes the opposite is true. It is best to start with a basic resistance training and cardio programme, such as the Bodydoctor programme. A personal trainer can guide you through the exercises and make sure you are exercising safely and at the right intensity.
