Facial Reflexology is a unique holistic health therapy developed by Lone Sorensen over the last 25 years. It integrates three ancient healing therapies, Traditional Chinese Medicine, South American Zone Therapy and Vietnamese Face Mapping, with our most current knowledge of neuro-anatomy.
Facial Reflexology is a gentle non-invasive therapy. Using only hands and a light rosehip cream or oil, the treatment incorporates precise stimulation of acupressure points, neurological points and body maps on the face. This stimulation sends impulses through the body’s central nervous system (CNS) to specific organs and parts of the body - to increase blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and rebalance the body’s chemistry. Our understanding is that the proximity of the brain and the CNS to the stimuli in the face encourages the body to respond more quickly.
Facial Reflexology stimulates the body to respond on a physical, emotional and energy level. Conditions which have responded well to treatment include:
Facial Reflexology combines looking good with feeling good. As the treatment stimulates the nerves, muscles and tissues of the face, as well as stimulating the micro-circulation, it encourages the build-up of new tissue and helps to improve the muscle tone. The result is a softer, glowing complexion.
Every treatment stimulates the body’s healing process. So the number of treatments required to address a particular condition depends on the underlying state of health and physical wellbeing of the individual. A course of treatment may be recommended and can be discussed with your practitioner.
As with Foot Reflexology, if you simply want to de-stress through deep relaxation, then an occasional or monthly treatment can work wonders. But for more specific concerns, a course of weekly or fortnightly treatments might be more beneficial.
