The X factor: the first hotel to offer the BodyDoctor health and fitness programme (responsible for the sleek limbs of Sophie Dahl and Kate Moss). BodyDoctor sessions cost £73
for 90 minutes. Gym sessions are complemented by healthy BodyDoctor options on all the hotel's menus. They really do look and taste as good as the `normal' options.
The hotel: Accommodation in suites with terraces overlooking either the tropical gardens or the sea. Dark wooden fixtures and fittings with acres of space, huge beds and deep baths. Some suites have private swimming pools. Otherwise, there is the infinity pool, surrounded by bar, and a restaurant overlooking the beach.
The spa: A Guerlain Institut spa with jacuzzi, sauna and plunge pool as well as a full range of face and body treatments. Beautiful treatment rooms, each with their own terrace and garden
shower. The best place for a massage is in the flower-filled outdoor `room' with wooden blinds as walls.
Signature treatment: The Guerlain Imperial Body Treatment (90 minutes, £62). This uses different types of massage in conjunction with the Guerlain Issima range of products. It helps relax muscles and stimulates circulation.
Food and service: Two restaurants, including the spectacular Le Barachois, which floats on the water. Food is stunning - lots of fresh seafood and healthy options that don't taste like rabbit food. Cool towels, water sprays and sorbets brought to your sun lounger exemplify the `nothing is too much trouble' attitude, where everything is done before you even realised it needed doing.

Was it worth it? A fantastic slice of paradise. Particularly good if you want to return a stone lighter but prefer luxury pampering to starvation and deprivation.
